Members’ adventures July 2026

 In Member Articles, News

July has certainly delivered some excellent flying weather, giving our members plenty of opportunities to get airborne and make the most of the summer. From helicopter flights and survey work, to enjoying the sights from the skies, getting up close with warbirds and continuing their training, it has been another varied and exciting month of aviation. Here’s a look at some of the highlights captured by our members during July.

Vicky Auld went on an outing from Duxford on a “Twotter” (Twin Otter DH6). She was checking out the new camera set up for when she’s back in Antarctica doing penguin and seal surveys later this year.

Amy Dewhurst took her cousin on a trip to the Isle of Man from Blackpool Airport. As well as flying over the Snaefell Mountain TT Course, they landed and hired a car to have a sightseeing tour.

Annabel Cook completed her Seaplane rating in Scotland to become one of only a handful of women in the UK to hold this rating.

Anne Fielding spent the day doing parachute drops, and afterwards, a friend kindly took her up in a Tiger Moth.

Claire Hatton shared the tarmac at Hawarden Airport with the Airbus Beluga.

Emily had more PPL(H) training at Barton Aerodrome.

Eniko Gazda took in the sights of the Derwent and Ladybower (Dambusters) reservoirs en route from Barton Aerodrome to Tatenhill Airport.

Anna Taplin was flown over London in a Cabri G2 – something she doesn’t get to experience in a fixed-wing aircraft!

Helen Hennessey did her first crossing of the Irish Sea in “Mary” (EI-HMG) from Weston Airport to Caernarfon Airport, with a stop at Mona Airport on the return leg.

Iris Todorovic had a PPL(H) lesson over some very dry looking fields – not a green field to be seen!

Sam Sloan checked out the Spitfire at High Wycombe – a fantastic display.

Sarah Clarke had a lesson out of Blackpool Airport, taking in the beautiful Lake District and coastline views.

Steph Smith and her Grandad both flew Spitfires from Biggin Hill for a White Cliffs of Dover formation flight. On the way back, she got to fly the Mk VIII Protype Trainer, incredibly good fun!

Vero Pepperrell had an incredible day; three Chipmunks from Old Warden, six pilots (including fellow BWPA member Steph Smith), two destinations (Halfpenny Green and a farm strip near Kettering), numerous formation manoeuvres, a ride in a combine harvester, and so many laughs. Brilliant memories.

Rania Regaieg got ready to camp under the wing at SleapKosh26, she had a great time and met up with many other BWPA members during the weekend.

Jo Sharpe enjoyed the stunning sunset at Sleapkosh, with beautiful aircraft, a great event, and plenty of BWPA members in attendance.
