Each year, the BWPA makes a number of awards and scholarships to recognise the achievements of women in aviation and support them in further flying endeavours.

Winners are formally congratulated at our annual Christmas Lunch and Awards ceremony in December.

Our scholarships vary from year to year, with our committee working closely with outside organisations and potential sponsors to gain support to assist women to achieve their aviation goals.

Previous scholarship winners include women who have gone on to gain their Private Pilot’s Licences, become commercial pilots and gain additional qualifications such as aerobatic and tailwheel endorsements, and the first woman to cross the English Channel by paramotor.

In 2021 we awarded 19 scholarships to female pilots – read about our winners and their aviation aspirations, and hear in their own words what the scholarships mean to them.

Scholarships are only available to BWPA members – make sure you have joined to be eligible to apply. Please allow 2-3 days for your membership application to be processed. If you have any questions about our scholarships, please contact us.

We have eleven awards, which recognise excellence in a wide range of areas from navigation to photography. There are also special awards, for example acknowledging achievements in gliding, personal accomplishment or career goals.
