Members’ adventures August 2026

August was another busy month for BWPA members, with plenty of flying, adventures, and achievements along the way. It was also a month of progress, with commercial training completed and some exciting steps forward for those working towards their next aviation goals. As the month drew to a close, there were signs that the seasons were beginning to change, with the first hints of autumn weather making an appearance. While the long summer days may be starting to fade, there is still plenty to look forward to as we head into the next chapter of the flying year.

Jenny Townend took a beautiful summer flight over the coastline.

Amy Dewhurst had a great month as she passed her UK CAA and EASA MEIR.

Louise Rotheram-Smith may not be flying at the moment, but a different kind of adventure awaits!

Louise Toye completed her commercial flight training! She passed her CPL skills test with Aeros Flight Training and then undertook the APS/MCC course with Oxford Airline Training.

Poppy Quereshi watched the bad weather arrive on a recent flight.

Anna Taplin headed off on a long, but bumpy flight, covering much of the South East coast before making a scenic ‘spin’ around the Isle of Wight.

Robin G-Buz towed gliders during the Competition Enterprise at York Gliding Club in Rufforth.

Steph Smith attended the Vintage Aircraft Club fly-in at Old Warden, and got papped on departure by one of the photographers (Christopher Murkin).

Taylor Craft found their spirit animal at Brighton City Airport in Shoreham. The seagull did not care one bit. It didn’t flinch when the twin-engine aircraft, just 10 metres away, started up, nor when the throttles were opened and the aircraft began to taxi away! Legend.

Vero Pepperrell had a fun day out at the Old Warden Vintage Fly-In! It was her first time flying open to the elements with a helmet, rather than in a cosy closed cabin. Vero can see why Steph recommended a pair of gloves in the middle of August!

Our North West Regional group enjoyed a social meet-up and admired Concorde at the Manchester Runway Viewing Park.
