South region meet at Goodwood Aerodrome
On 25 August, a group of 12 members from our south region gathered at Goodwood Aerodrome for their first airfield event and in-person meeting since the pandemic started.
Unfortunately, the weather did not behave, so nobody was able to fly in, but that did not stop the fun!
The event started in the café, with introductions for those who hadn’t met, and a catch up for old friends. Then the group moved over to Ultimate High, for a talk on Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) from the CEO and founder, Mark Greenfield – aka ‘Greeners’. Could any of our members be persuaded into one of their ‘Utter Nutter Flights’ though, and the chance to take on the ‘insanity’ challenge’ …?

The group meet the famous silver Spitfire during their hangar tour
After the talk, the rain had cleared, allowing the group a sociable lunch on the café terrace. Discussions covered a wide range of topics, but most importantly, where the group might meet next!
The day was rounded off with a tour of the various hangars, where the group was able to see the famous Silver Spitfire, which flew around the world in 2019, and other interesting aircraft. There was then the opportunity to visit the tower before everyone headed home.

The most important part of the day – lunch!
A great day was had and everyone is looking forward to the next event!
