Vicky Auld’s 29-year journey with the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) started out when she worked as a meteorologist and Base Commander before “the flying bug” totally changed her trajectory.
After training in Bournemouth and Jerez, she paid her dues flying the Q400 for Flybe until she landed her dream job back with BAS in 2013. Now, as Deputy Chief Pilot, she spends her time hopping between the Twin Otter and the Dash 7 for some of the world’s most intense polar flying. When she’s not navigating the Antarctic ice from October to March, she’s taking lead on global airborne science missions and sharing her unique path to the cockpit.
Join us on Zoom for a virtual chat, and spend an hour with us as we hear Vicky’s story, and ask her our burning questions about her career path, polar science, best experiences – and maybe about penguins…
This virtual talk will be hosted on Zoom, opening it up to BWPA members everywhere! Take a look at the Members’ Area for the Zoom link.
