Members’ adventures September 2025

Autumn, stunning colours, beautiful skies, great flying, racing, exploring and trying out new things… Bliss.

Bev Reardon went on a quick bimble to the beautiful Home Farm Airstrip in Ebrington. It has a lovely farm shop and cafe at the end of the runway, with the added bonus of cows watching you take off!

Catherine Ruddick took part in the King’s Cup air race at Wellesbourne Airfield. All 11 aircraft were diving for the finish line. Catherine was in the only high-wing aircraft.

Catherine Woehrel went coasting out of London Ashford Airport for a weekend in Amiens.

Debbie Ackroyd managed to get a shot of a rainbow over the runway. How spectacular!

Maeghan Dee flew from Dunkeswell Aerodrome on a beautiful September day.

Nancy Lillington went on a little jaunt from Measham Cottage Farm Airstrip to Peterborough Conington Airfield, because who can resist a sausage and egg bap with a proper cuppa? The control centre is straight out of the 70s, and she half expected John Travolta to strut through in flares. She may have been underdressed for the decade, but the Bee Gees were playing in her head!

Steph Smith took a beautiful shot of a sunset trip in the Cessna O-1 Bird Dog at Shuttleworth Aerodrome (Old Warden), before her last BBQ of the year.

Taylor Craft checked out the state of a local reservoir. There is a long way to go before it gets back to normal levels. The recent rain has encouraged vigorous growth of vegetation in areas that would normally be significantly submerged.

Bren Martin very much enjoyed flying this C180 seaplane in Maine, New England, on a beautiful autumnal day.
