2026 Chairwoman’s Challenge launches today
To celebrate International Women’s Day, we’re excited to launch the 2026 Chairwoman’s Challenge!
This year’s challenge is especially exciting as it’s the first Chairwoman’s Challenge from our new Chairwoman, Annabel Cook, since taking up the role.
The Chairwoman’s Challenge Trophy is awarded annually to the BWPA member and pilot who has used their aircraft in the most imaginative and interesting way, and who has exhibited the highest standards of navigation and airmanship. The theme is set each year by the Chairwoman, and for this year’s challenge is Local Legends.
The competition is open to any member of the BWPA, including student pilots. The judging panel uses a scoring system based on factors including pilot experience and ratings, aircraft type and avionics to ensure that every competitor has an equal chance. The flight can take place in any type of flying machine, including single or multi-engine fixed wing, rotary, microlight, glider, hang-glider or balloon.
The presentation of the trophy will take place at the AGM and Christmas lunch, which will be held on Sunday 6 December 2026, where members will also be able to examine all the submitted Challenge Logbooks.
