Everyone’s welcome here at BWPA – and that includes men! Membership is open to everyone who supports women in aviation, and we’re lucky to have some brilliant men among our ranks. On International Men’s Day 2024, meet just a few of them…

Andrew – aka Flight Deck Wingman

“Hi, I’m Andrew – a current 787 pilot and director of Flight Deck Wingman. In my almost 20 years of commercial airline flying, I have only operated with five female captains, which still blows my mind! I’m a proud member of the BWPA and advocate for empowering and inspiring women and girls into aviation careers. I’m passionate about being part of a supportive community that helps women and girls realise and achieve the same dream I had as a young boy. As a proud member of the BWPA and ally to all female aviators, I feel lucky to play a small, but important part in this bright future for women in aviation.”

Matt

“Hi, I’m Matt, a pilot and flight instructor. I became a BWPA associate member, simply because I want to support women in aviation. I’ve worked in private, civil and military flying, where women are still vastly under-represented. The industry needs more pilots, and everyone should realise they can have an opportunity to be part of it. And, as always, it’s just nice to be a member of a group with other people passionate about flying!”

Peter

“I fiercely believe that it’s so unfair that such a low percentage of pilots are ladies and it’s one of the reasons I joined. It also gets me close to such experienced and knowledgeable pilots! I just hope in my small way that some male input can redress the imbalance.”

Graham

“Hi, I’m Graham – a pilot and engineer in the uncrewed aircraft industry. The best way I could show my support and help encourage more women into the aviation world was to join the BWPA. As well as offering fantastic opportunities to those who might need a financial hand, they are a great organisation for meeting like minded people with a diverse background and experience level who all like aviation.”
