Members’ adventures September 2024
There’s no denying that the weather in the UK this year has been challenging for flying, but many BWPA members have managed to make the most of the dry days when the winds were calm. Some also travelled overseas to go flying. Scroll down to enjoy some photos!
Catherine Woehrel had a 9-day flying adventure to Spain and Portugal, covering 2151 nm.
Rosie Minshall saw blue skies over Portugal too.
But Chandra Nauth-Misir captured the essence of flying in the UK in September 2024…
There was some sunshine, which Jo Sharpe enjoyed, flying over the beautiful Lake District and Coniston.
Claudia Hill flew up to 12,000 ft over Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) in an LS1-f Neo glider, from Llanbedr.
Judy Leden made the maiden voyage in her new paraglider, above the clouds in the Hope Valley.
Annabel Cook finally managed to get her mum airborne after the weather foiled plans during her previous visit.
Isabelle Gledhill took part in the Chairwoman’s Challenge.
But weather stopped play for Steph Smith and Philippa Roberts’ attempt at the Chairwoman’s Challenge, so they flew around Oxfordshire.
Philippa Roberts convinced fellow BWPA member Claudia Hill to fly the T21 glider with her at Oxford Gliding Club.
Isla Watson has been flying the Pipistrel Velis Electro as part of a scholarship.
