The BWPA volunteer platform is live!
Volunteers are everything to the BWPA, and we would be nothing without the passionate members who give their time. BWPA members are encouraged to give back and steer how the BWPA develops and delivers. The team of volunteers that step up to run the BWPA do so for a range of reasons, including professional development, networking, to gain or share skills and experience, to give back to the association or to help inspire others to get involved in aviation.
We also believe that volunteering should be two way – we are keen to understand not just what members who are keen to volunteer can offer, but what they would like to get back from volunteering. We actively look for opportunities for people to develop their skills or be given opportunities that are important to them. Once volunteers are on board, we help them get up and running, and try to offer a sounding board or helping hand when they need it. Then we keep in touch as they take ownership of their new role and we encourage them to feel empowered make it their own.
As part of our five-year strategy, developed in 2020, we have developed an online volunteer platform to make it easier for members to be able to get involved and choose opportunities to support the BWPA that match their skills and goals. We encourage members to log into the members’ area, browse available roles and submit an application if there is something that catches their eye.
BWPA Volunteer Coordinator, Lily Ayres, says “I am so excited that we are launching the BWPA volunteer platform to ensure our members have a streamlined and effective way to register their interests to volunteer. Not only does this support the BWPA strategy, but we also hope this gives our members a quick and easy way to unlock opportunities to get more involved with the BWPA!”.
