2021 scholarships launched today

 In News, Scholarships

As people around the world celebrate International Women’s Day, today we open applications for our 2021 scholarships, to support women in achieving their flying dreams.

We encourage any eligible member to apply for one or more of our scholarships, especially if you have applied before and been unsuccessful. If your name was second on the list last year it could well be top of the list this year. We have even more scholarships than last year, including five brand new scholarships.

The 15 scholarships available this year are:

  • Four BWPA Flying Start Scholarships, one sponsored by SkyDemon, for new, inexperienced pilots to gain their first qualifications.
  • Two BWPA Flying High Scholarships for licensed pilots who wish to gain further qualifications.
  • One BWPA CATS Aviation Training Scholarship for the full value of an online Commercial Pilot’s Licence (CPL) or Airline Transport Pilot’s Licence (ATPL) (A or H) distance learning theory course.
  • Two BWPA Bristol Groundschool ATPL Scholarships, each for half the value of an ATPL (A or H) distance learning theory course.
  • One BWPA 624squadron.com Scholarship for a female aviation enthusiast for her own special mission and flying adventure, donated in proud memory of 624 (Special Duties) Squadron Royal Air Force.
  • Two BWPA Easy PPL Ground School Scholarships, each for the full value of a Private Pilot’s Licence (A) ground school course.
  • One BWPA Helicentre Aviation CPL(H) Scholarship to subsidise the cost of an integrated CPL (H).
  • One BWPA Helicentre Aviation Introductory Scholarship to subsidise the cost of a two-day introductory helicopter training course.
  • Two BWPA Flight Deck Wingman Scholarships to cover the full cost of an Airline Assessment Preparation Course.

“Please share these scholarships far and wide,” says BWPA Chairwoman Sharon Nicholson. “Remember to send the information to your flying club, your friends, daughters and nieces so that no one misses this opportunity. We are particularly keen to encourage women with little or no experience of flying, through our Easy PPL Ground School and Flying Start Scholarships.”

“If inspiration is needed then read about the stories of our previous scholarship winners.”
